The Owl That Started It All | Birdwatching at Broadmoor

If you’ve ever spent years chasing a single species then you know the exact mix of obsession and patience it takes. Back in 2020 I heard a barred owl out on a rough stretch of trail that stopped me in my track saving me from walking straight into black bears I easily could have spooked. That single moment sparked my journey into finding a barred owl and I’ve been searching for one through the lens ever since. Once I became a true birder within the last two years, the desire deepened. Come with me as I finally encounter and capture my first visual sighting, as I had only heard the calls over the years. This video takes you along the trails at Mass Audubon’s Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary where I will also share overall highlights from the location. Bear with me as I catch up on my backlog of film, a lot has changed since this occurred last year but I want to show my birding journey in order. I still had an older camera body, lens, and overall was in a different part of the journey than I am now. Physically (I've lost weight) and mentally (I've gained an insane amount of knowledge and skill since then). As the videos go on, so does the quality of what I can capture. I appreciate every single person who tunes in this early, even if just for a few minutes.
