At Rock in Rio in January 1985, around 250,000 people sang "Love of My Life" so loud that Freddie Mercury stopped singing, stepped back from the microphone, and let the crowd sing his song to him. This is the true story behind one of the most beautiful moments in live music history.
Queen's 1981 South America tour turned "Love of My Life" into an anthem across Argentina and Brazil. Four years later in Rio de Janeiro, Freddie and Brian May played it with just a twelve string guitar - and a quarter of a million voices took over. But that same week, another Queen song caused anger in the crowd.
Watch until the end to discover what happened during "I Want to Break Free" in Rio - and how Brian May still keeps Freddie on stage during this song today.
