While working on some cover art and music, I decided to release something I made a while (a few months) ago for an Ultrakill related project called "Ultrakill: Wisdom's Descent".
I first wanna say that the project isn't really being developed, the idea came from a friend, but they haven't gotten to working on it. I may try to continue with the idea, but I have no idea how to make custom levels and so on, but maybe some day I'll try to do something.
Wisdom's Descent consists of 6 layers Madness; Sloth; Pride; Shame; Doubt; Chaos. Basically, Hell got bored of its 9 layers and began secretly creating 6 new additional layers which are kind of separate to the rest of Hell, with V1 ending up there accidentally (or not) after 8-4.
M-1///REPEAT IT OVER is the first level from Madness, with Madness, similar to Violence, being separated in three sections: Insanity (M-1); Derangement (M-2); Obsession (M-3 & M-4). The whole layer is basically a giant library, with each part of the layer having unique books. Insanity has books with all pages blank, Derangement's books have their pages torn and in Obsession each book has only a single word in it written again and again till the end of the book. The concept for M-1 was something like the level being the same hallway, with small changes, with the final arena being the same hallway but bigger or something like that, with the art depicting the looping corridor.
The section of insanity is meant for those who keep repeating the same mistakes over and over and expect a new result, only to be met with failure again and again.
There are some ideas for the other layers and for encounters, but the description would be too long (not that it isn't long enough now lol).
As for the song itself I kind of got tired of working on it and moved on to different stuff. I'm not really happy with the composition since it is too repetitive, since I wanted to make it sound like insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting something else, with little changes, but I'm not sure if it's really good. Also the mixing in the combat version is really bad, but I do kind of like the calm version. I might remake the song some day, but not sure.
I do really love the art actually, it is inspired by 8-1's cover art, and I kind of wanted to give the feeling of V1 being chased by the darkness, and I think I kind of succeeded in that.
