Motuora Island Kayak - North Island New Zealand

This video shows a short overnight kayak trip to Motuora Island. It's about 1 hours drive north of Auckland to Mahurangi West Regional Park. From there in favourable conditions its around a 1hour, 7km paddle past Saddle Island to Motuora campsite. Motuora is a pest free island in the gulf where they actually have an issue with too many kiwi, as its used as a nursery. We heard about 10 calls from our campsite, some very close by, before we fell asleep. A beautiful spot that is generally quiet as it is only accessible by private boats. Definitely worth a look.
