Our Private African Safari | Aquila Game Reserve from Cape Town

Join us for an unforgettable private African safari at Aquila Private Game Reserve, less than two hours from Cape Town, South Africa. Travelling in our own private safari vehicle with just the two of us and our guide, we headed across the open plains and mountain landscapes in search of some of Africa’s incredible wildlife. Our safari brought us face to face with hippos, Southern White Rhinos, antelope, zebra, ostriches and, in one of our favourite moments of the entire day, lionesses in the wild. We also learn why Aquila’s rhinos have been dehorned as part of efforts to protect them from poaching. One of the advantages of our private safari was being able to travel at our own pace — and even arriving at a beautiful refreshment stop ahead of the larger tour groups, where we had the place completely to ourselves and enjoyed a glass of bubbles surrounded by the mountains. Our half-day experience also included lunch, which we actually enjoyed before heading out on safari. We’ve saved it until later in the video because we thought you’d probably rather get straight to the wildlife! After our safari, we made the journey back to Cape Town and the always-welcome sight of Queen Mary 2 waiting for us in port. That evening, our South African experience continued onboard as Cunard welcomed local performers to the theatre for an evening of traditional music and dance.
