380 New Vinyl Releases — Here Are My 10 Discoveries!

380 new vinyl releases. 35 caught my attention. Only 10 made the final cut. Welcome back to Senior Spinner's Vinyl Discovery! 💿🎵 For the week of August 28, 2026, I went through 380 vinyl releases looking for music that might take me somewhere outside my usual listening habits. After applying my trusty LEWD Filter — Loud, Explicit, Weird, and Doesn't Fit — I narrowed those 380 releases down to 35 albums that interested me. And this week, getting from 35 to my final 10 was NOT easy! But here's what makes Vinyl Discovery different. I could have stayed safely inside my musical comfort zone. This week's releases included familiar names like Prince, Night Ranger and Joan Jett. I already know those artists. I already know much of their music. For this show, I want to find the ones I DON'T know. So instead, I'm going outside the box and exploring bluegrass, blues, R&B, country, folk, Americana, indie, pop and whatever else catches my ear. This week's ten discoveries take us from a young Alabama bluegrass band making its debut album to established blues and Americana performers, contemporary country, British pop, emerging R&B and artists I probably never would have encountered if I hadn't gone digging through all 380 releases. And remember, these aren't necessarily my picks for the “10 Best Albums of the Week.” They're my 10 discoveries — the records that made me curious enough to stop, listen and want to hear more. Next comes the fun part. I'll sample these albums more extensively and decide which ones deserve a place in my digital music collection. Some may eventually make their way onto Senior Spinner: On the Record for a complete album review. And every once in a while, I'll discover something so good that owning it digitally just isn't enough. That's when we ask the ultimate question: 💿 IS IT VINYL WORTHY?
