Election officials seized Rs 76 lakh in cash from a house in Nagireddy Revenue Colony in Kurnool on the eve of the Andhra Pradesh municipal polls. The election flying squad and police searched the house in Kurnool city on a tip-off and found about Rs 76 lakh. Since no valid documents were shown for the money, the cash was seized and handed over to the Income Tax department for further action. Officials said the money would be released once proper papers are produced. With polling in the Kurnool Municipal Corporation tomorrow, officials and police have stepped up their watch on the distribution of cash and liquor, and searches are continuing at suspected places.
