‘Let Gaza Live’: New York protesters demand world to stop arming Israel Protesters chanted demands for an end to US arms support for Israel at East 39th Street and First Avenue, near UN headquarters in Manhattan, on Thursday (September 24). Actors Susan Sarandon and Hannah Einbinder, comedian Sarah Sherman and activist Chelsea Manning joined the Jewish Voice for Peace demonstration. Protesters wore shirts reading “Fund People Not Bombs” and carried banners declaring “Jews Say Stop Arming Israel” and “Free Palestine.” Organizers said the protest was timed to coincide with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled address to the UN General Assembly. Stefanie Fox, executive director of Jewish Voice for Peace, urged people to demonstrate against Israel’s actions in Gaza.
