Roaring Brook Falls | Chasing the First Autumn Colours

I try to head out for photography whenever the conditions are favourable and my schedule allows, although it often doesn’t quite work out that way. Today, I decided to go anyway, even though the forecast wasn’t exactly promising in hopes that it would turn out nice. And would you guess what? It didn’t. I was hoping to catch a beautiful sunrise at the lone tree I discovered last week, hopefully with some incredible light. Unfortunately, that never happened. I still managed to come away with a few images, though, so it wasn’t a complete bust. The main destination for this outing was Roaring Brook Falls along the Castle Frederick trails in Falmouth. I visited the falls during the winter and noticed there was enough hardwood surrounding them that I thought they might be worth a return visit once autumn arrived. I almost didn’t have enough battery left in my camera by the time I reached the falls because there were sooooo many mushrooms along the trail. Of course, I had to stop and photograph a bunch of them. The falls themselves were really nice, with a decent amount of water and some early autumn colour. There wasn’t quite as much colour as I was hoping for, but it was still a fun location to photograph. One that doesn’t seem to get a lot of attention.
