It's been five months since I left the Air Force. I still haven't gone anywhere. The reason isn't money and it isn't fear. It's a dog called Joey. I asked my parents to keep her for a few weeks so I could travel. They said no. This video is about why I'm glad they said no — and why asking them in the first place was the selfish part of this whole thing. I left to do a specific list of things: scuba, mountains, roads, countries. Five months in, I'm still in Bangalore doing electricity KYC and waiting five hours at a bike service centre, and it's starting to suffocate me. The plan is Koh Tao in September for my Rescue Diver and EFR certification. Whether that happens depends entirely on whether I can find a place for Joey that I'm actually comfortable leaving her in.
