Our First Family Road Trip in the Chevy Bolt

Our first family road trip in the Chevy Bolt! We packed up the kids and drove from Houston to San Antonio and back... a little more than 400 miles total. The goal was pretty simple: make it to San Antonio without stopping to charge and try to spend as little as possible along the way. Of course, things don't always go exactly as planned. 😂 We tried out the Level 2 chargers at our hotel, made a quick fast-charging stop at Buc-ee's on the way home, had a little charger trouble, and eventually made it back home with plenty of battery left. Once it was all over, I added up every charge to see what this road trip actually cost us. And yeah... I was pretty happy with the number. But there's a little surprise in there, and it's probably not what you think. I'll also show you what it SHOULD have cost and compare it to what we would've spent taking our gas SUV instead.
