Resilient Regional Manufacturing Value Chain in Africa: A 360° Perspective | APH Webinar Series This is the first in a series of webinars leading up to the in-person African Pharma & Health Supplies Convention (APH) in March 2027. APH builds on the success of the East Africa Pharma & Biotech (EAPB) conferences, held from 2023 to 2025 with Africa CDC and the Rwanda Biomedical Center. The 2025 edition brought together over 400 participants from across Africa and global institutions. APH widens that platform into a pan-African convening on local manufacturing, health security, investment and ecosystem development for medicines, vaccines and health products. APH 2027 is co-hosted by the African Medicines Agency (AMA) and the Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC), and convened by Sathguru Management Consultants (SMC). The first webinar asks what it will take to build a resilient, competitive regional pharmaceutical manufacturing value chain in Africa. The panel brings together pharmaceutical industry leaders, a development finance institution and a global health funder. COVID-19 exposed how heavily Africa depends on imported medicines and vaccines. The continental pharmaceutical market is estimated at about USD 31.5 billion in 2025, but it is spread across more than 50 national markets. The discussion explores how to turn that combined demand into investable scale. TOPICS DISCUSSED Donor-funded and pooled procurement markets, WHO prequalification and procurement levers for local manufacturing (HIV, malaria) Nigeria as a case in point: regulatory capacity and policy levers such as the ceiling list Ecosystem strengthening, bioequivalence capacity and access to finance for African pharma manufacturers Market aggregation through the African Medicines Agency (AMA), regulatory harmonisation, WHO Maturity Level 3 reliance and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Priorities for a resilient pharmaceutical manufacturing landscape in Africa SPEAKERS Umesh K, Aurobindo Pharma: https://www.aurobindo.com Olugbenga Olayeye, Fidson Healthcare: https://www.fidson.com Ntokozo Tshabalala, International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group: https://www.ifc.org Dr Kelechi Uzor, Unitaid: https://unitaid.org MODERATOR Pushpa Vijayaraghavan, Director, Sathguru Management Consultants (www.sathguru.com) ABOUT APH The African Pharma & Health Supplies Convention (APH) is a platform for collaboration on making medicines, vaccines and health products in Africa, for Africa. 🌐 https://aphconvention.com/ ✉️ info@aphconvention.com ABOUT SATHGURU MANAGEMENT CONSULTANTS Convenor of APH.
