Known by several names: Double Deer – 雙鹿石澗 – Sheung Luk Stream, or 鹿湖 Luk Wu, or 夾萬坑 Kap Man Hang for the lower section. In the last few years, the initial pools have become completely crowded. But if you continue the stream you can enjoy an exciting path. Beauty/fun: 7/10. A classic. The lower pools used to be (more than ten years ago) a secluded paradise. Now completely crowded on sunny warm weekends. Nevertheless, the rest of the stream is worthwhile with several impressive waterfalls after heavy rain. Difficulty (check this link if new here, this is not your standard HK hiking web): 4.5/10. There is only one small section where you will need to scramble up. Steep sections. Mostly well marked. It is a long day off of all the proposed paths here. You can shorten it up a bit. 2020 update: there are more and more ribbons around, some getting closer to the waterfalls (initial pic of the 2019 Instagram as reference), if you take them the difficulty increases to 5.5 at least. If you want to do it easier, find paths further separated from the stream. Sai Wan (Chinese: 西灣; lit. 'West Bay') is a beach in Sai Kung Peninsula, Hong Kong. To distinguish it from other bays and beaches of the same name, it is commonly known as Tai Long Sai Wan, as it is one of the four main beaches of Tai Long Wan. It came first in the Hong Kong Best 10 Scenic Sites Election in 2006.[1] The beaches in the Tai Long Sai Wan area are not suitable for swimming because of the presence of strong rip currents year-round, which means swimmers could be pulled into the open sea when caught in a rip current.[2][3][4] Many drowning fatalities have occurred because of the rip currents. Shouson Hill (Chinese: 壽臣山) is a hill (148 m high) on the coast of Deep Water Bay east of Wong Chuk Hang, in Southern District, on Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. [1][2] North of the hill is an affluent residential area, consisting primarily of Shouson Hill Road, a loop of the main Wong Chuk Hang Road, with a few side roads. Name The hill is named after Chow Shouson, who was born in the village and became a senior official in the Qing Dynasty before the 1911 Revolution and then an active businessman and politician in Hong Kong. History The valley north of Shouson Hill was formerly a cultivated area containing a walled village. It has also been known as Wong Chuk Hang Valley and Staunton's Valley. In the early 20th century, the British military used the hill to bunker troops and as a sentry post overlooking Deep Water Bay, Aberdeen, and the area now occupied by Ocean Park. The bunkers are now abandoned and run down. During World War II, locals were evacuated to the area to avoid Japanese air assault.
