Sideways video: • Why Avatar has the Most Ironic Soundtrack ...
Sources: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1H...
In todays episode, we’re uncovering what James Cameron’s Avatar was supposed to sound like before its music was “Hollywoodified.” Despite conducting extensive research into Na’vi ethnomusicology, microtonal scales, alien instruments, and communal Pandoran vocal traditions, much of the original worldbuilding was ultimately scrapped in favor of standard blockbuster orchestral scoring. Using academic essays, musicology reports, interviews, and early production documents, we’ll break down the lost plans—like Pandora’s rumored 16-tone microtonal system, functional work songs, and bizarre concept ideas such as elliptical time signatures—and ask why one of the most detailed fictional cultures ever created ended up sounding so familiar.
