6 Hands 1 Pianist! Rachmaninoff Romance for Piano 6-Hands

Let's get one thing straight from the start. Rachmaninoff never intended this piece to be performed by the same pianist in three takes, asynchronously. However, after years of being asked if it is possible to clone myself, I feel very good about the end result. This was a unique challenge that hinged on a few critical building blocks. With any asynchronous performance, the success depends on a solid first take that holds the entire piece together rhythmically, with no gaps, so that subsequent parts can be recorded over top. Rachmaninoff's Romance offers this steady pulse throughout, however, the pulse does move between Piano parts 1, 2, and 3 a bit, requiring me to re-arrange the writing to keep the rhythm going.  One of the most suspenseful parts of doing this sort of project is that I have no idea what it sounds like until I get home and start lining up the tracks. During the recording process, I'm listening to one recording while laying down another part, but I have no way to hear the entire ensemble until later. There's a lot of trust in the process until that exciting moment when everything lines up on the editing timeline. Here it is all put together. Have I mentioned that Rachmaninoff is my favorite composer? This is one of two from 2 Pieces for Piano 6 Hands, entitled "Romance."
