18th Sunday after Pentecost - September 27, 2026, 9:00 am Theme of the Day - The Lord's Supper The Lord’s Supper has been part of Christ’s church from the church’s birth. To this day Chris-tians regularly celebrate, receive and treasure this sacred meal. Even though much is taught about it in confirmation class, there isn’t much review in the following decades of a Chris-tian’s life. (In fact, this pastor admits that other than on Maundy Thursday, he has not preached these teachings in his 31 years of ministry.) This three week series seeks to renew Christians’ knowledge and appreciation of what Christ gives us in Holy Communion. If our Lord Jesus has in many ways indicated that the Lord's Supper is a special meal, then we ought to treasure it, to ask, "How can I receive it rightly?" Today's sermon reviews what it means to have a heart properly prepared for the Lord’s Supper. May this review help us to treasure, and to receive the Sacrament to our highest good.
