Come with us to Aravaipa Canyon, the most peaceful place in Arizona! This area is very special because it is a protected wilderness unlike any you have seen. Aravaipa Creek carves a deep canyon in the desert, making a lush riparian oasis where there are deer, lions, beers, ringtails, and many species of birds. The creek is usually crystal clear and about ankle to knee deep. You can only access this area if you have a permit, which you can get from recreation.gov. Aravaipa Canyon is worth exploring as a day hike or a backpacking trip. As you walk upstream, you will be able to find acceptable spots to set up camp about every half mile. You will be in water for most of the hike, and it feels great in the summer. The daytime temperatures did get a little hard to handle at times, but then you just cool off in the creek and it feels great. Should you visit Aravaipa Canyon in the dead of summer? If you don't mind being outside when the temps are in the mid to high 90s, go for it!
