Welcome to Home Garden Tours | What's in your backyard? Today we're back in Cupertino, California, visiting Delmar, a professional gardener who transformed a relatively small yard into a beautiful, productive garden filled with edible plants, pollinator-friendly flowers, fruit, herbs and wildlife. Delmar has been gardening almost his entire life, studied horticulture, spent 22 years as Head Gardener at the Winchester Mystery House, and eventually built a career working professionally with gardens throughout the Bay Area, CA. In this tour, Delmar takes us through the garden and shares how it evolved from a mostly empty yard into a space that feeds people, supports hummingbirds, butterflies and bees, and gives him a place to experiment with edible landscape design. You'll see his Meyer lemon tree, vegetables, herbs, pollinator plants, edible "weeds," and some of the creative ways he uses plants and materials from the garden. We also talk about the wildlife that visits the property, the agricultural history of Cupertino, and why Delmar thinks of himself as a bit of a "farmer in the city."
