We tend to think about our health in terms of diet, exercise, medicine, and genetics. But there's another factor that's easy to overlook: our sense of connection to other people. Loneliness and disconnection can affect our well-being, while meaningful relationships and a genuine sense of belonging can play an important role in helping us thrive. In this episode of Thought Leaders Live, Dr. Tseganesh Selameab, an internal medicine physician, educator, and storyteller, explores the connection between belonging and health. Drawing from her experience serving refugee, immigrant, and underserved communities, we'll discuss the impact of isolation, the healing power of human connection, and how creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and connected can strengthen both individuals and communities. What We'll Cover: • How loneliness, isolation, and disconnection can affect our health and well-being • Why social connection and a sense of belonging can play an important role in improving health and building resilience • How storytelling, reflection, and human connection can help create stronger, healthier communities About Dr. Selameab Dr. Tseganesh Selameab is an internal medicine physician, educator, and storyteller committed to serving refugee, immigrant, and urban underserved communities.
