Marco Frisina's Anima Christi | A solo organ performance

🎹 The piece: Anima Christi by Marco Frisina 🎧 Best experienced with headphones or good speakers (5.1 channel audio) 🕊️ Performed by Derek Burns, organist & musical director, Scotland Anima Christi by Marco Frisina, performed as a solo organ work on the magnificent Mascioni organ of the Chiesa di San Giovanni Evangelista, Alessandria, recreated in Hauptwerk. Frisina’s beautiful setting of Anima Christi has become one of the most recognisable pieces of contemporary Catholic sacred music. In this instrumental performance, the melody is presented entirely on the organ, exploring some of the softer and more expressive colours of this remarkable Italian instrument before gradually building through the piece. This performance uses a carefully balanced selection of registrations to allow the melody to develop naturally while retaining the prayerful character of the original work.
