| PATCH COMMENTARY |
After all the hubbub over Tempestuous Aria's shout cap being dropped back down to 5 targets in WvW, everyone was freaking out about Tempest being dead...and I haven't been so amused by such whining in awhile. Is there a noticeable difference? Sort of. Cleanses are a bit less, but nothing dramatic enough to not take a Tempest if you are short on clears. Offensively, you'll hit fewer targets as well but about that I will say this - in tough fights, a direct push that would put you on top of 10 people is unlikely to happen, as such in most cases you are using your shouts near the edges or tail of a group where (imo) you can only reasonably expect to hit a few consistently. This just means that if you're using Tempest in a comp, the lower shout cap just means your positioning is really important, and that you really need to time the use of your overloads to maximum effectiveness now that you are much stronger in them. They can be used almost as a stunbreak or for personal stab during a push, furthermore you'll find that you'll be finishing OLs much more frequently which will supplement your support capabilities.
Anyways. If any slides go by too fast, don't forget you can just pause to read what I typed. That said I am truly open to feedback and if you have thoughts, please feel encouraged to share them down in the comments! Hopefully this method is decent enough to help people learning how to be effective on Tempest whether you are pug or in a comp. You can easily turn this into a roaming build just by switching the weapons up (d/wh is really popular rn, d/d is a classic favorite too).

Switching Fire Aura to Frost Aura supplements loss of pressure from 10man shouts. Chills/CCs are all very important right now, as well as Damage Reduction from Frost Aura. After getting 25 stacks I swap to a secondary staff replacing my stacking sigil w/ this setup. If you're not the main source of cleanse and prefer a bit more damage, in WATER take Piercing Shards and Flow like Water instead of the supportive options.
