Konservierung und Restaurierung setzt sich mit dem Begreifen, Dokumentieren, Erhalten und Wiederherstellen sowohl der materiellen als auch der immateriellen Anteile von Kunst und Kulturgütern auseinander. Nur durch ein tiefgehendes Verständnis der Materialität, des gesellschaftlichen Kontextes und der künstlerisch relevanten Aspekte eines Werkes kann dieses angemessen behandelt werden. Während die Grundlagen für Malerei und archäologische Funde ebenso wie für Videokunst, zeitgenössische Installationen, technisches Kulturgut oder schützenswerte Gebäude samt deren Interieur gelten, findet im Verlauf der Ausbildung eine thematische Spezialisierung im Hinblick auf die spätere Berufstätigkeit statt. – La «conservation et restauration» se préoccupe de la compréhension, documentation, conservation et reconstitution de la partie matérielle des œuvres d’art et des biens culturels. Le traitement approprié d’un tel objet n’est possible qu’avec une compréhension profonde de sa matérialité, de son contexte social et des aspects artistiques importants. Alors que les bases s’appliquent aussi bien à la peinture, qu’aux objets archéologiques, à l’art vidéo, aux installations contemporaines, aux biens culturels techniques ou encore aux bâtiments à préserver, une spécialisation thématique se fait au cours de la formation en vue de la future activité professionnelle. – Conservation and Restoration deals with the perception, documentation, preservation and renovation of the material and immaterial components of art and cultural objects. It is only through an in-depth understanding of the material essence, the social context and the artistically relevant aspects of a work that it can be given the appropriate treatment. While the basic elements of the course apply to painting and archaeological findings, as well as to video art, contemporary installations, technical cultural objects and buildings worthy of preservation, including their interiors, the education provided also allows students to specialise in a particular area with an eye to their subsequent professional activity.
