Join my family on an impromptu weekend road trip from Delhi to the Pink City of Jaipur via the newly opened Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, cutting our travel time down to just three and a half hours. The main reason for this getaway was to celebrate my mother's birthday at a truly unique location: the world's first 2D luxury homestay. Created by owner Kapil Purohit in loving memory of his sister Meghna Kumari, this one-of-a-kind Airbnb features hand-painted black-and-white interiors where every piece of furniture, decor, and wall art blends into a seamless two-dimensional optical illusion. During our stay, we explored the property's incredibly detailed themed rooms. We stayed in the two-bedroom Queen Suite, featuring 400-year-old Rajasthani Pichwai art elements and playful palace monkey murals. I also gave you a complete tour of the music-themed King Suite, highlighting a hand-painted royal wardrobe, the highly sought-after Princess Suite featuring an Amber Fort Sheesh Mahal-inspired mirror ceiling above a private Jacuzzi, and the bachelor pad-style Prince Suite recreating the famous Peacock Gate of the City Palace. Beyond the amazing accommodation, we explored the best of Jaipur's culinary and cultural scene. Our itinerary included witnessing a beautiful Janmashtami procession at Bapu Bazaar, shopping for authentic hand-block prints, and dining at Handi Restaurant to try their famous Laal Maas, Handi Chicken, and Chicken Rozali Kebabs. We also visited Daniel's Oriental Kitchen for Chinese cuisine and grabbed the iconic Pyaaz Kachori from Rawat Mishthan Bhandar before heading home. The trip concluded with a spiritual visit to the 15th-century Galtaji Temple nestled in the Aravalli hills, known for its natural purifying springs and stunning blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture.
