Ten years after the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, has India kept its promise? In this episode of Radio Udaan's special series RPWD Act 2016: Reflections and Journey Towards 2036, host Danish Mahajan speaks with Professor Amita Dhanda, Professor Emerita at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, and Head of its Centre for Disability Studies. Prof. Dhanda helped shape the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, especially the principle of legal capacity for all. Her team's report to the Supreme Court, Finding Sizes for All, led to the landmark Rajive Raturi judgment. That ruling held that accessibility cannot remain a mere guideline and that India must have a floor of mandatory, non-negotiable rules. In this conversation we discuss: the gap between what the Act promises and what the Rules delivered why the new accessibility rules are still in draft states that have not yet appointed State Commissioners limited guardianship versus legal capacity what must become non-negotiable by 2036 This episode is fully accessible with Indian Sign Language (ISL) interpretation. #AmitaDhanda #RPwDAct2016 #10YearsOfRPwDAct #RightsOfPersonsWithDisabilities #DisabilityRightsIndia #AccessibilityIndia #AccessibilityForAll #NonNegotiableAccessibility #RajiveRaturiJudgment #SupremeCourtAccessibility #FindingSizesForAll #NALSAR #NALSARCDS #CentreForDisabilityStudies #UNCRPD #LegalCapacity #DisabilityLawIndia #RadioUdaan #DanishMahajan #StateCommissionerForDisabilities #InclusiveIndia #DisabilityPodcast #JourneyTowards2036 #DisabilityInclusion #DisabilityJustice #EqualRights #InclusiveAccessibility #RightsBasedApproach #DisabilityLaw #AccessibleIndia #PersonsWithDisabilities #PwD #RPwD #DisabilityAwareness #InclusionMatters #AccessibilityMatters #LegalAwareness #IndianDisabilityLaw #DisabilityRights #inclusionforall
