120,000 Years of History and One Magical Night - Les Eyzies

Hi everyone, 20,000 years of history, breath-taking scenery and a truly magical evening in the Dordogne! 🇫🇷 Sometimes a place just captures your heart, and for us, Les Eyzies in the beautiful Dordogne region of France was one of those places. After leaving Auch, we take Florrie through some wonderful French countryside, heading back to a town we'd briefly visited two and a half weeks earlier. This time, we're determined to explore it properly! Known for its extraordinary prehistoric heritage, Les Eyzies sits beneath towering limestone cliffs in the beautiful Vézère Valley. It's a place where thousands of years of human history seem to come alive. We find a fantastic, secluded woodland pitch at the local Camping-Car Park aire — although the occasional train reminds us we're not quite as isolated as we thought! 😂 The following morning begins with a walk in search of fresh bread and croissants, rewarded by the most beautiful sight of mist rising over the River Vézère. We explore the fascinating National Museum of Prehistory and experience an incredible virtual reality journey into the prehistoric caves of 20,000 years ago. There's also time for a wonderful lunch overlooking the valley before an evening we'll remember for a very long time. As darkness falls, the enormous limestone cliffs and ancient dwellings are illuminated, and the moon slowly rises behind the hillside. Sitting with a drink, watching it all unfold, we both agree this might just be our most magical evening of the entire trip.
