According to the information available, a bus travelling from Moga to Amritsar had barely left the Moga bus stand when an argument reportedly started over seating arrangements. The situation escalated after a woman allegedly got into an argument with the conductor and some passengers. The bus conductor alleged that the woman was arguing continuously and had made objectionable remarks about two girls travelling on the bus. He further alleged that she tried to pull his beard, following which she was asked to get off the bus. The situation became tense when some passengers also got off the bus and an argument escalated. During the confrontation, several women allegedly assaulted the woman. A video of the incident and the heated scenes has drawn attention. The woman who was allegedly assaulted gave a different version of events, claiming that she had only asked for a seat and was allegedly subjected to inappropriate language before being forced off the bus and beaten. She also claimed to have suffered injuries to her fingers. Police were informed about the incident and reached the spot. The woman, bus conductor and some passengers were taken to the police station. According to SHO Bhullar, police brought both sides face-to-face at the station and tried to resolve the dispute. After discussions involving the woman's relatives and lawyers, both sides eventually reached an amicable settlement (raazinama). The bus was subsequently allowed to continue towards Amritsar.
