An introduction to Macraes Mine

Located in the Otago hills north of Dunedin, the story of gold mining at Macraes goes back to 1862, when the first gold was found in Deepdell Creek. The OceanaGold story began at Macraes in 1990 and since then we have produced over five million ounces of gold, employed over 3,000 people and contributed $8.5 billion to the New Zealand economy.
