Can you see giant pandas in Harbin, China? Yes, and that’s exactly where I’m taking you in this episode of my Harbin Safarnama. My winter journey through Harbin continues at Sun Island. After exploring the incredible snow sculptures and experiencing Harbin’s extreme winter weather, I’m now walking to the Panda Pavilion to meet two giant pandas, twin brothers Cheese and Sesame. In this video, I take you inside the Panda Pavilion and show you what the experience is actually like. Cheese and Sesame live in separate neighbouring indoor areas, where I found them doing what pandas do best: sitting comfortably and eating lots of bamboo. I also share some interesting facts about giant pandas, why pandas living outside China are often part of international conservation and research agreements with China, and why these pandas are kept in a temperature-controlled indoor environment during Harbin’s extreme winter conditions. If you are planning a trip to Harbin, be prepared for plenty of walking. Even getting from the main entrance to the Panda Pavilion takes some effort, particularly when the ground is covered with snow and ice. Good winter shoes with proper grip make a huge difference. This video is part of my complete Harbin travel series in Urdu. Follow my Harbin Safarnama as I explore Harbin city, Sun Island Snow Sculpture Art Expo, giant pandas, the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival, local and halal food, ice fishing on the frozen Songhua River, Siberian tigers, Harbin Polarland, Volga Manor and more. If you’re planning a winter trip to Harbin, China, watch the complete series and come along as I experience each attraction one by one.
