Date filmed: 09/08/2021 Videos filmed at: 18:32 | 18:45 | 18:50 | 18:56 Route: Portsmouth Direct Line Petersfield Station Location: Station Road, Petersfield Trains: Lowering 1 (0:00): 3 Class 450s (South Western Railway) - 2:45 London Waterloo ➡ Portsmouth & Southsea - Lowering 2 (Starts at 3:48): 2 Class 450s (South Western Railway) - 5:50 Portsmouth Harbour ➡ London Waterloo - Lowering 3 (Starts at 6:47): 3 Class 450s (South Western Railway) - 7:55 London Waterloo ➡ Portsmouth Harbour - Lowering 4 (Starts at 8:58): 3 Class 450s (South Western Railway) - 11:14 Portsmouth & Southsea ➡ London Waterloo This level crossing is located next to Petersfield Station on the Portsmouth Direct Line, in the South Downs around half way between Guildford and Portsmouth. The signal box next to this level crossing controls it from on-site to the day of filming, and the three loud alarms here make a lot of noise together as the barriers lower. Since a previous visit, a barrier in the furthest corner of the level crossing from the signal box has been replaced, though whilst it has a completely new arm, the barrier box and motor dates back to 2012, and appears to be being re-used here. Four lowerings have been filmed on this date, and are all are featured in this video, each seeing evening peak time train services using the station and level crossing on journeys between London and Portsmouth, and Portsmouth and London. Railway movements and level crossing activations happened between 6:30pm and 7pm on this particular summer evening. Thanks for watching!
