Walking a Local Card Show & Buying What I Like | Proper Hobby - Sports Cards

We’re back at another local card show — this time in Clearwater, Florida. For this one, Al and Jessika head into the show with no cards to sell or trade, just looking to walk the floor, check out the vendors, make a few deals, and see what kind of pickups they can find. The show had free admission, a smaller layout, and a much more relaxed feel than some of the bigger events. It made it easy to move around, talk with vendors, and actually enjoy the process without feeling rushed. After about an hour inside, Al walked out with a fun mix of cards — including a few PC pickups, numbered cards, a Heavy Lumber SP, modern stars, and a couple vintage tall boys. Some of the pickups include: Jose Ramirez Heavy Lumber Jordan Tyson Future Gold Mega /50 Shohei Ohtani Topps Chrome Sepia Sebastian Walcott Bowman Spotlight /99 Jude Bellingham Topps Chrome Sapphire 1970 Elgin Baylor Oscar Robertson vintage Plus a few other numbered and personal collection pickups One of the best parts of the show was being able to slow down, talk hobby with different vendors, and check out cards without feeling packed in. The smaller setup made it easy to negotiate, learn more about what people were buying and selling, and just enjoy being around the hobby. There was also plenty of conversation about how collectors are branching out beyond traditional sports cards, including Disney, Marvel, DC, and other areas of the hobby. If you’re in Florida, Proper Hobby also has more shows coming up soon, so come by, say hello, and check out the table.
