World Adventures of Gina & Dean presents: Hotel Reviews - Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena Location: Cartagena, Colombia Hotel Visit Date: May 2023 Over Memorial Day weekend 2023, Gina and I joined two of our closest friends on a long weekend trip to Columbia, with a three day stay in Cartagena on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. Through Gina's magic. we were able to stay for three nights at the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena by using points to significantly discount the nightly rate. Rooms typical run almost $400 per night, but by using points, we were able to get our room for less than $200 per night! The Sofitel Legend Cartagena is one of only six hotels in the Sofitel collection with the "Legend" moniker. We're fortunate enough to have stayed at the Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Aswan in Egypt several years ago. Each Legend hotel hold historical significance, and the Sofitel Legend Cartagena is no exception, with the building dating back to 1621! The hotel is exceptional, as it to be expected with a Sofitel Legend hotel. This is a 6 star hotel on a 5 star scale. Only expect the finest in service and amenities. But, that will come at a cost. Columbia is a fairly inexpensive country to travel in, but prices at the Sofitel are more US-like prices. However, the buffet at $25 per person was reasonable, but could add up after several days. The other challenge to the amazing property is the exciting city of Cartagena itself! The hotel has amazing amenities to offer, but we found it hard to enjoy them as we were constantly out exploring the rich culture and history of Cartagena itself! We felt we didn't do the resort justice with its pool, spa, and other amenities. Do we recommend the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena... absolutely!!!
