Chinook Salmon Fishing | Season Opener Area 20-5 | East Sooke, BC

Chinook salmon fishing opened in Area 20-5 on August 1, 2026, so Jesse and I launched my Campion Explorer from Cheanuh Marina in East Sooke, BC, before sunrise and headed west in search of two keeper Springs. (King Salmon) We fished spoons, anchovies, and plugs while battling rain, wind, and rough seas. Along the way, we sorted through smaller Chinook, wild coho, and even a rockfish before finding two keeper Chinook.
