Kaushiki Chakraborty - Raag Bhimpalasi | कौशिकी चक्रवर्ती - राग भीमपलासी

Kaushiki Ji's virtuoso technique is the result of years of intense training, primarily from her esteemed father Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty Ji. She hails from the Patiala gharana, known for elaborate ornamentation when singing taans. Here is a recital of Raag Bhimpalasi accompanied by Ojas Adhiya on Tabla, Pandit Ajay Joglekar on Harmonium and Murad Ali on Sarangi. Bhimpalasi is an Afternoon Raag. It uses the notes of Kafi thaat, with an Aroha of nSgmPnS and an Avroh of SnDPmgRS. Characteristically, Dha and Re only appear in the descending line, and are approached from the notes above.
