What truly happens when a person becomes involved in witchcraft, spells, amulets, mediums, and demonic practices? Saint Paisios the Athonite recounts the extraordinary story of a young Tibetan sorcerer who had reached the eleventh degree of sorcery. In the presence of an Orthodox priest, the young man summoned a chief demon and later Satan himself. But when he was given a Cross to hold, the demons trembled and refused to approach. This powerful Orthodox teaching reveals the deception hidden behind witchcraft and explains how sorcerers may use crosses, icons, Psalms, prayers, candles, and other holy things to mislead people. Outwardly, something may appear Christian, while inwardly it may conceal blasphemy, spells, and cooperation with demonic powers. Saint Paisios also explains why the devil may appear to heal someone, why such “healings” are never truly good, and how demonic suffering may simply be transferred from one person to another. In this profound Orthodox teaching, Saint Paisios speaks about: • the Tibetan sorcerer who summoned demons before an Orthodox priest; • why the demons were unable to approach the Cross; • how sorcerers misuse Psalms, icons, prayers, and holy objects; • the spiritual danger of amulets, spells, mediums, and occult practices; • how false healings and demonic “miracles” deceive people; • why witchcraft does not take hold of a person who sincerely repents and confesses; • how spells are broken through repentance, Confession, prayer, and return to Christ; • why the powers of darkness become strong only when people turn away from God. The powers of darkness are weak. Human beings strengthen them by distancing themselves from God and giving the devil a foothold in their lives. But through sincere repentance, Confession, prayer, and the protection of the Cross, a person returns to Christ and is freed from the enemy’s influence. I have a Romanian-language Orthodox channel with 48K subscribers:    / @literaturaascetica   I decided to extend this mission to the Orthodox audience in the West. I translate texts from Romanian Orthodox books written with the blessing of bishops of the Romanian Orthodox Church, and then, using the translated text, I create the voice-over in ElevenLabs with my own cloned voice.
