I climbed Mt. Fuji with my 6-year-old nephew. Did he make it? In 2023 I spent three months in Japan living with my brother and his family, and climbing Mt. Fuji was the one thing I always wanted to do. So with my nephews Alvin (6) and Vailen (8), we took the Subashiri Trail, slept in a mountain hut, woke up at 2 AM for the summit push and watched the sunrise above the clouds. They say it takes about 5 hours. It took us 21. Trip facts • Trail: Subashiri, from the 5th Station (2,000 m) • Hut: Miharashi-kan, Original 7th Station (3,200 m), about ¥10,000 (~$70) a night with dinner and breakfast. Book 4 to 5 months ahead. • Summit: Kengamine, 3,776 m • Bus to bus: 21 h 46 min • When: July or August • Bring: warm layers, a rain jacket, a headlamp, trekking poles, gaiters, and cash for toilets (¥200 to 300) and water Chapters 0:00 Three months in Japan 0:28 Meet Alvin (6) and Vailen (8) 1:07 Getting there + what to bring 1:52 The climb 6:03 The fog 6:56 The mountain hut 7:55 The 2 AM summit push 8:59 Sunrise and the summit 10:27 Summit ramen 11:18 The way down 12:41 Know before you go Some shots are from my brother's video of the same climb, on his channel FamVestor:    • Climbing Mt. Fuji with Kids - Subashiri Trail   I also build Gunpla on my other channel: ‪@Joshua_Lux‬ #MtFuji #Japan #Hiking
