Caleb Flynn was convicted on all nine counts in the murder of his wife Ashley Flynn, who was shot twice in the back of the head while sleeping in her own bed in Ohio. The jury took just two hours and ten minutes to return guilty verdicts on aggravated murder, murder, two counts of felony murder, two counts of felonious assault, and three counts of tampering with evidence. Prosecutors said Flynn's messages to his mistress Aaliyah Botner revealed motive, including the line "I choose you. I'm free," and pointed to evidence like 105 steps on his Apple Watch, a missing 9mm handgun, security cameras removed 20 days before the murder, and a staged break-in on a door that was already unlocked. Defense attorney Patrick Mulligan argued there was no gun, no gunshot residue, and no eyewitnesses, telling jurors the state never met its burden of reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Paul Watkins countered that "the intruder is simply a story" and that no one entered the home — the defendant executed Ashley. Flynn now faces life in prison without the possibility of parole, with sentencing set for October 5th at 3:00 p.m., where the victim's family will have the chance to speak.
