A powerful artificial intelligence system called Skynet is destined to trigger a nuclear apocalypse known as Judgment Day, where machines rise up against humanity. To ensure its future victory, Skynet sends a highly advanced shape-shifting robot—the T-1000—back in time to kill a young boy named John Connor, who will grow up to become the leader of the human resistance. At the same time, the resistance sends back a reprogrammed older Terminator—the T-800—to protect John.
