2,802 metres. It's the number most people associate with Col de la Bonette. But this time, I didn't want to simply show you the top. I wanted to show you the road that takes us there. 🏍️🇫🇷 #ColDeLaBonette #BMWK1600GTL #FrenchAlps After riding through Vars in the previous episode, we continue deeper into the French Alps towards one of the roads I'd been looking forward to most on this entire journey. Col de la Bonette. And rather than cutting straight to the spectacular high-altitude landscape, this video begins much further down in the valley. Because for me, the climb is part of the experience. The trees. The vegetation. The first gentle curves. The gradual increase in altitude. And then, kilometre by kilometre, watching the landscape transform around us. The trees begin to disappear. The mountains become larger. The road becomes increasingly exposed. And eventually there is very little left between us and the sky. There's also an interesting detail behind that famous number. Col de la Bonette itself sits at 2,715 metres. The famous 2,802 metres is reached on the road around the Cime de la Bonette above the actual mountain pass. Whether that makes it the highest road of its kind in Europe depends somewhat on definitions — and that's an argument I'm quite happy to leave to the internet. We didn't come here to argue about numbers. We came here to ride it. And somewhere during that long climb, I realised that 2,802 wasn't really going to be what I remembered anyway. I'd remember the scale of the landscape. The road disappearing into the mountains. The temperature changing. The sound of the motorcycle working its way higher. And the strange feeling of watching the world below become smaller with every kilometre. 🏍️ Motorcycle: BMW K1600 GTL 🇫🇷 Country: France 🏔️ Mountain pass: Col de la Bonette ⛰️ Col de la Bonette: 2,715 m ⛰️ Cime de la Bonette road: 2,802 m 🎥 Cameras: GoPro Hero 12 & Insta360 This is a longer ride video — intentionally. Rather than reducing Bonette to a few spectacular minutes around the summit, I wanted to preserve as much as possible of what riding this road actually feels like. From the valley. Through the changing landscape. Up into the high mountains. All the way to 2,802 metres. And then back down the other side. There is narration along the way, but there are also long sections where I simply let the road, the landscape and the BMW's 1,649cc six-cylinder engine tell the story. Because these videos aren't only about showing where we've been. I want them to give you some idea of what it actually felt like to be sitting on the motorcycle and riding these roads yourself. And Col de la Bonette deserves to be experienced slowly. So come along for the ride. Turn up the sound. And let's see how long it takes before the trees disappear. We spend so much time chasing destinations. The highest road. The famous mountain pass. The number on the sign. But perhaps mountain passes are unusual destinations. You spend hours travelling towards them. You reach them. You cross them. And almost immediately, you begin leaving them behind. For a little while, the destination and the journey become exactly the same thing. Ride. Record. Repeat. #BMWMotorrad #MotorcycleTouring #MotorcycleTravel #CimeDeLaBonette #FranceByMotorcycle #RouteDesGrandesAlpes #K1600GTL For business and collaboration enquiries: motorcyclecameradrone@gmail.com (Please include your full pitch and product information in first email) Become a member of the channel for early access and other member benefits:    / @motorcyclecameradrone   Music from from Epidemic Sound: https://share.epidemicsound.com/xia9ne I love coffee in the morning ☕️😎 https://buymeacoffee.com/motorcycleca... #MotorcycleTouring #MotorcycleTravel #Motovlog #POVMotorcycle #TouringBike #NorwayByMotorcycle #MotorcycleNorway #NorwayMotovlog #NorwayRoads #POVRide #RideTheWorld #FreedomOnTwoWheels #LongRide #RelaxingRide #MotorcyclePOV #ScenicNorway #motorcyclecamping #motorcycleadventure
