In this video, I walk through the full process of how I design, cut, weed, and install custom vinyl stickers and decals. After doing several sticker swaps with YouTube maker mates, a few people asked about the best way to apply them—so I put together this complete guide covering why I chose this design, how they are made, and how to get a perfect, bubble-free install on your tools and shop equipment.
In this video, I demonstrate how to design, cut, weed, and install custom permanent vinyl decals and stickers for workshop machinery, toolboxes, and project enclosures.
Whether you're looking to label machine control panels, customize toolboxes, prep negative masks for electro-chemical etching, have your logo embroidered on a Tee Shirt of Hat, or just apply decals you've swapped, these practical techniques make the job straightforward.
What’s Covered in This Video:
Why a clean, line-based logo design works best for me across shop equipment and garments
How simple graphics can be prepared and sent to a vinyl cutter
Trimming and weeding techniques using hand tools
Applying and smoothing transfer tape without air pockets
Step-by-step installation technique: separating backing sheets, alignment, and the acute-angle peel method for a bubble-free finish
Key Tips from the Video:
Always peel the backing paper away from the clear transfer tape at a sharp, acute angle—not the other way around.
Align using the bottom edge of your graphic or text rather than the clear transfer sheet.
If the vinyl lifts during peeling, fold back, give it a firm rub with a plastic card or insert box lid, and continue slowly.
