Thank you for watching!
Behind the awards, red carpets, television shows, sports careers, and hit records, some of the most recognizable Black LGBTQ+ stars have built love stories that many fans know surprisingly little about.
From Queen Latifah and Eboni Nichols to RuPaul and Georges LeBar, Robin Roberts and Amber Laign, Raven-Symoné and Miranda Pearman-Maday, Don Lemon and Tim Malone, Colman Domingo and Raúl Domingo, Da Brat and Jesseca “Judy” Dupart, Niecy Nash-Betts and Jessica Betts, Wanda Sykes and Alex Niedbalski, and many more, these relationships reveal a very different side of celebrity life.
Some couples spent decades protecting their relationships from public attention. Others married openly, built families, became parents, or helped change how Black LGBTQ+ love was represented in entertainment, sports, television, and popular culture.
Not every story ended the same way. Some marriages are still going strong, while others ended in divorce or separation. Jason Collins and Brunson Green faced an especially heartbreaking final chapter after Collins was diagnosed with glioblastoma shortly after their wedding.
From private romances and unexpected marriages to parenthood, advocacy, heartbreak, and decades-long partnerships, these stories show that there is no single path to love.
