Why Russia’s Filin Miss*ile Is So Dangerous | Fatima Vlog l 92NewsHD Russia’s new Filin cruise miss*ile is drawing attention after Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence revealed detailed information about the weapon. Russian forces reportedly began using the Filin against Ukraine in late summer 2026. Measuring just 3.5 metres in length, with a wingspan of 3 metres, the ground-launched weapon represents Russia’s growing focus on developing relatively inexpensive, jet-powered long-range strike systems. According to Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, the Filin has a claimed maximum range of up to 1,200 kilometres and a top speed of approximately 800 kilometres per hour. It can fly at extremely low altitudes or reach heights of up to 6 kilometres. The miss*ile has been identified in versions carrying either 50 kg or 100 kg warheads. It uses a Russian-made R500 turbojet engine and is launched with the help of a solid-fuel booster. Some components are also manufactured using 3D-printing technology. Its navigation system, foreign electronic components, compact design and reported long range raise important questions about Ukraine’s air-defence capabilities. Ukrainian intelligence has also identified Chinese-made navigation technology and electronic components originating from different countries.
