Before he was Khayyam, he was "Sharma Ji." The story behind one of Hindi cinema's most poetic composers. In this episode of Kisse Mere Anubhavo Ke, Kishan Sharma remembers Khayyam Sahab, the composer behind Kabhi Kabhie and Umrao Jaan. It begins with a boy who left home for a life in music and ended up serving a film veteran for food and shelter. It moves through the days he and his partner recorded Akashvani bhajans as "Sharma Ji & Verma Ji," and how Footpath gave him the name Khayyam. Kishan Sharma also shares how he met Khayyam and became part of his family, the Rafi album that began with one condition, and how Khayyam gave away everything he owned to help struggling artists. Kisse Mere Anubhavo Ke is a Hindi podcast by Jeevan Utsav, featuring veteran broadcaster and journalist Kishan Sharma sharing rare, personal, first-hand memories of India's greatest legends from Hindi cinema, music, theatre, radio, literature and public life. These are not biographies or internet facts, they are lived memories only Kishan Sharma witnessed personally.
