Although the Germans did not immediately capture Paris, they reached and besieged the city within a few months, leading France to surrender in 1871. The war also helped lead to the creation of the German Empire. “La Strasbourgeoise” is a French song about the loss of Strasbourg after the Franco-Prussian War.
