This traditional Japanese dance piece, “Tama Usagi,” is inspired by the rabbit on the moon. It humorously portrays the rabbit’s charming movements, including the traditional image of pounding mochi, as well as its playful interactions with a tanuki (raccoon dog). One of the highlights of this performance is that a single dancer plays both characters—the rabbit and the tanuki. Enjoy the delicate expressions and playful movements unique to Japanese traditional dance.
