Kilchoman 18 Years. Video 240: Their First 18 Years

Video 240: Last year, Kilchoman, the only Islay farm distillery, celebrated their 20th Anniversary of operation. The distillery was founded in 2005 by Anthony and Kathy Wills and was the first new distillery built on the Islay in over 124 years. The production began in 2005 with lots of challenges. The trials and errors of getting it right led to Anthony asking for help from the late and great "Einstein of Whisky", Doctor Jim Swan. The first cask was filled on December 14th, 2005. In early 2025 the first 18-year-old was launched which was matured in ex-bourbon barrels from the 2006 vintage. Celebrating the 20 years of the "barley to bottle" distillery's operation, the founder, Anthony Wills selected 20 of the distillery's oldest casks. The 20th Anniversary Cask Series consisted of four distinct expressions, two ex-bourbon and two ex-sherry bottlings that were aged between 14 and 18 years.
