In this latest TalkingTech webinar, I sat down with Milan Bobde, CEO and co-founder of AI invoice-to-cash platform Oddr, for deep dive into how law firms are rethinking the billing lifecycle: from improving visibility over where invoices are stuck, to reducing the number of disconnected point solutions involved in getting a bill from draft to payment. We also, inevitably, looked at the growing impact of AI on invoicing outcomes and expectations. While law firms continue to report strong financial performance there has been little impetus to change, but Bobde made a compelling case that hidden within billing and collections processes are millions of pounds of lost value. From fragmented systems and limited visibility to outdated workflows and rising lockup, we explored why firms still struggle to answer seemingly simple questions like: Has the client received the invoice? Have they viewed it? And when are they likely to pay? Also why firms are often unable to let clients pay in the modern ways that we come to expect in our personal lives. What I particularly enjoyed about this conversation is that it goes beyond technology for technology’s sake. We discuss the cultural challenges around ownership and accountability and why visibility is about far more than dashboards. I posed a number of challenging questions to Bobde around why billing and collections has traditionally had less innovation and investment and why now is any different. We also dive into the rapidly evolving role of AI, and how it can eliminate manual analysis. If you're a CFO, CIO, finance leader, billing professional or anyone interested in how AI is reshaping legal operations, this webinar has plenty of practical insights, real-world examples and food for thought.
