A Perfect Getaway

Hello friends 🤍 This weekend, I finally got the getaway I had been hoping for — a few days away from the usual urban routine, surrounded by open farmland, mountains and nature. We stayed at a beautiful farmhouse tucked away in the countryside, surrounded by sheep, chickens, ducks, rabbits, birdsong and a little stream flowing nearby. We had hoped to spend the weekend enjoying the snow at Mt Ruapehu, but the weather had other plans. Heavy rain kept us at the farmhouse for an entire day, giving us an unexpected opportunity to simply enjoy the warmth of the fireplace, cups of tea, good food and the sound of rain outside. The next morning brought a completely different world. Fresh snow had covered Mt Ruapehu, the skies had cleared, and we finally made our way up to Whakapapa for a few hours of snow fun before beginning the long journey home. It wasn't quite the weekend I had planned, but perhaps that's what made it so memorable.
