From Nigeria to Switzerland: How My IT Journey Started | TheOne Journey Ep. 1

Every journey has a beginning. This is mine. In the first episode of TheOne Journey, I’m going back to where my life in Switzerland started. Moving from Nigeria to Switzerland meant entering a completely different world. A new country, a new culture, a different education system, and a new way of thinking about what my future could look like. I started in an integration class, learning how to navigate my new environment and experiencing some of my first cultural shocks along the way. One of the biggest adjustments was understanding just how different the Swiss education system was from what I had known in Nigeria. That journey eventually led me into IT. From my first job and completing my EFZ apprenticeship, I continued developing professionally and academically, later completing my Dipl. Techniker HF Informatik and continuing into advanced studies in IT Security & Risk Management (NDS HF). Along the way, my career evolved through IT infrastructure, systems engineering, cloud and cybersecurity. I’ve had the opportunity to work on projects involving Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, cloud migrations, identity and access management, security, infrastructure modernisation and other areas that helped shape the way I approach technology today. I also continued investing in my Microsoft cloud and security knowledge, earning four certifications : AZ-900 — Microsoft Azure Fundamentals AZ-500 — Azure Security Engineer Associate SC-100 — Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect SC-200 — Security Operations Analyst But this episode isn’t really about certificates, job titles or technology. It’s about progress. It’s about arriving somewhere unfamiliar, adapting to a new environment, finding a direction, taking opportunities as they came, and gradually creating a path that I couldn’t necessarily see when I first arrived in Switzerland. And this is only the beginning of the story. Through TheOne Journey, I’ll be documenting more of the experiences, decisions, successes, mistakes and lessons that have shaped my life — from career and business to Switzerland, travel, lifestyle and everything that happens in between. I don’t have everything figured out. I’m simply sharing the journey as I experienced it. From Nigeria to Switzerland. From integration class to a career in IT. One chapter at a time. This is TheOne. Welcome to the journey. #TheOne #TheOneJourney #MyJourney #Switzerland #LifeInSwitzerland #NigeriaToSwitzerland #ITCareer #CyberSecurity #MicrosoftAzure #CloudComputing #CareerJourney #PersonalGrowth #DocumentingTheJourney
