Inside Norway’s Hi-Fi and Vinyl Boom—Sigberg, Arendal, Electrocompaniet, T-Time, Velvet Recording

Norway has become one of the most interesting countries in hi-fi—and in November 2025, the SoundStage! team spent a week traveling through it to find out what’s happening. In this 𝑆𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑆𝑡𝑎𝑔𝑒! 𝑇𝑟𝑎𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑟𝑠 episode, we begin at Velvet Recording, where Norwegian loudspeaker manufacturer Sigberg Audio has installed its active, DSP-based speakers for studio monitoring. From there, we travel to Arendal for an early look at Arendal Sound’s then-unreleased 1610 loudspeaker series and its new experience center. Next comes T-Time Vinyl Plant, a small boutique pressing operation with a connection to Norwegian rock band Kaizers Orchestra, where we get an up-close look at record manufacturing on a very different scale. Finally, we travel to Electrocompaniet, where the company designs and manufactures its electronics in Norway. We get a closer look at its latest preamplifier, tour the manufacturing operation, and see just how much of Electrocompaniet’s production remains in-house. Four stops.
