I wrote Summer Breeze a couple years ago for my sister during a time when we were both grieving the loss of our biological father. He was suffering from cancer, and watching what that loss was doing to her emotionally hit me incredibly hard. I’ve always been a deeply empathetic person with a big heart, so when someone I love is hurting, I tend to feel those emotions right alongside them. I felt everything she did, picked up a pencil, and poured my emotions onto paper. That’s how Summer Breeze was created. This song became my way of taking grief, love, pain, and the feeling of missing someone and turning it into something beautiful — a reminder that even when someone is no longer physically beside us, sometimes we can still feel them.
